After completing his veterinary studies at Murdoch University in 2003, Matt was accepted into a rotating internship program at Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Virginia.
This was followed by a residency in veterinary ophthalmology at Michigan State University.
During this time he was part of a collaborative research team working with the University College London, performing gene therapy research into a common cause of canine and human childhood blindness. After completing his residency training and passing board examinations he was certified a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology.
He has since worked as an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Ohio State University and most recently he ran a busy ophthalmology service at a private referral hospital in New Jersey. Matt has authored multiple scientific papers and contributed chapters.
