James is a 2009 Sydney University Graduate who spent three years in mixed practice outside Canberra before moving back to Sydney where he locumed in small animal practice for six months.

He started at ARH as an emergency and surgery intern in 2013 and successfully passed his memberships in small animal surgery the same year. He started his small animal surgery residency in 2015 and is currently undertaking a research project on hemivertebral malformations in brachycephalic screw tail breeds of dogs. His other interests lie in neurosurgery and minimally invasive surgery.

When not at work James can generally be found renovating his house (which appears to be an ongoing process) or spending time with his young son.
