Criticalist

Natashia attended the University of Sydney where she earned a Bachelor of Science, Master of Veterinary Clinical Studies and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Following her graduation from veterinary school, she spent time in feline only practice for three years. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Referral Hospital Sydney, a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Sydney, and a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at the University of Wisconsin.

Natashia has completed research on infectious diseases (including fungal disease), mechanical ventilation and massive tranfusion. Her findings have been published in multiple journals including the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, the Australian Veterinary Journal and Medical Mycology. 

Natashia is experienced in all aspects of small animal emergency and critical care and has a particular interest in management of sepsis and septic shock, infectious diseases (fungal diseases in particular) and mechanical ventilation. Her favourite part of veterinary medicine is seeing critically ill patients reunited with their owners. 

Tamsyn Bradley BVetMed GCertSAECC

Veterinary Director

Tamsyn graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2012. She worked in the UK for 4 years in small animal practice before moving to Australia. Tamsyn has spent some time travelling the country working at lots of different clinics and accidentally discovered a love of emergency medicine here at ARH Gosford in 2018. She is currently studying for her membership examinations, and has a special interest in Australian wildlife and cats. In her spare time, she loves to travel, bake and read fantasy fiction.

Ann Hill

BVSc GCertSAECC

Ann graduated from Sydney University in 1986. She has worked in general practice on the Central Coast during this time, and started working in the veterinary emergency field 10 years ago here at ARH. She enjoys the challenge and satisfaction of emergency work, and is especially interested in the surgical aspect. She is in the process of completing her Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care. She has her own menagerie of 7 dogs and 4 cats.

Emma Baker

BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS GCertSAECC

Emma graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2004. She worked in the UK for 3yrs before moving to Australia. She worked at various clinics around NSW for a year before ending up at ARH Gosford in 2012. She made the move to the full time Emergency and Critical Care work 2yrs ago, and has just completed her Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care.

Karen Oitmaa

BVSc

Karen graduated from The University of Sydney in 1995. She has worked in small animal practice in Adelaide & Sydney. She started in emergency work in 2013 when she moved to the Central Coast from Sydney, and has been here ever since.

Tom Ryu

BVSc

Tom graduated from Massey University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Veterinary science. In 2002, he moved to Australia and initially worked in a general practice in Orange. Tom loves emergency and critical care. He has worked at Northside Emergency Veterinary Service in Terrey Hills in Sydney for 18 years and joined ARH Gosford in 2021.

Tom has a special interest in the treatment of tick paralysis including ventilation, Emergency surgery and imaging (ultrasound). He resides on Sydney's upper North Shore with his wife, daughter and ginger cat Jerry (so they are Tom and Jerry!).

Yvonne Van der veek

BVSc MANZCVS(ECC)

After graduating from her veterinary degree from the University of Utrecht in 2000, Dr Yvonne Van Der Veek worked in general practice for 7 years before venturing into Critical Care and Emergency Medicine. She passed her ANZCVS memberships in Emergency and Critical Care in 2009. Yvonne has a great deal of experience with emergencies and became a qualified RECOVER CPR trainer in September 2017. She is passionate about helping pets and their owners.

Melissa Holmes

BVSc(Hons)

Melissa graduated in 2000 and has worked as a small animal vet in Australia and overseas. She is passionate about providing quality veterinary medicine and surgery to enhance the wellbeing of pets in her care, and to educate and support their owners. She has three fur-babies and three human children. In her spare time she enjoys stand-up paddle boarding, skiing, travel and running.

Kate Wright

BVSc

Kate started at a local mixed practice on the central Coast in 2018. She started here at ARH in 2022 to pursue her interest in emergency medicine. She enjoys the challenge and fast-paced nature of emergency work, and helping achieve the best outcomes for her patients. In her spare time, she enjoys ocean swimming, playing rugby 10s and soccer for local teams, walking with her old golden retriever Monty, and camping with her husband and daughter.

Kat graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and a Bachelor of Veterinary science in 2017. She has been with Greencross/ARH since 2019 and loves the challenge and variety of emergency medicine. As a GP vet she enjoys working on behavioural medicine and internal medicine cases. When Kat isn't at work she is hanging out at home with her wife, 2 cats, dog and bird and can probably be found playing the playstation or crocheting if she gets a minute to herself!

Kirra graduated from Sydney University in 2016. Since then her career has taken her to the NSW south coast, the UK and finally here on the Central Coast. Kirra is passionate about providing the best care possible for her patients and their families. When she isn’t at work, Kirra is preoccupied by her 2 dogs, Bert and Flora.

Lucy Bond

Lucy graduated from Liverpool University in England in 2009 and has been working in Australia since then - firstly in Adelaide and Grafton, and then settled on the Central Coast where she lives with her husband, 2 children and a variety of animals. She works in both general practice where she is director of a clinic, and ARH at weekends. She enjoys the variety of both practices, and likes soft tissue surgery, cardiology and neurology, as well as small furry critters. 

Samantha Lees

Nursing Manager

I am Samantha or Sammy and I am the new appointed Nurse Manager here at ARH Gosford.

I’ve been working as a Veterinary nurse for 15 years and I know I wasn’t meant to be anything else, with a love for all animals big and small. 

While at school I worked with large animals and show cattle, and after this I found a job working in a fabulous General practice for many years on the Central Coast, before I made the leap to further my knowledge and skills as a nurse. 

I started working in a specialist referral hospital in Sydney, working with amazing specialist veterinarians and nurses, where I was able to nurse a wide range of critical care and medical cases, before I found my true passion for Emergency and Critical care nursing and where I've been working for the last 9 years. 

I have completed the Diploma of Emergency and Critical Care Nursing and I am Registered Veterinary Nurse under the AVANT scheme for Veterinary Nurses and feel very passionate for our profession. 

This job has been the most difficult but most rewarding yet, it never stops surprising me, and I learn something new every shift. 

Being able to comfort a client through a scary and difficult time and nurse their precious pet back to health, then seeing them go home with a wagging tail makes this job all worthwhile.

Every day I am amazed at our emergency team I get to work with and the work we achieve as a team. 

I'm so grateful I get to work alongside such a dedicated and supportive team of Veterinarians and Nurses here at ARH Gosford, and now I get to lead our fabulous nursing team as the Nurse Manager. 

At home we have our littlest love, and absolute character 3yr old son, Ollie who keeps us laughing with his theatrics, and our beautiful fur baby Miss Jarrah the cavoodle.
