The Animal Referral Hospital is the largest specialist and emergency group in Australia, with over 500 employees across 7 locations. We are currently recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to step into the position of Customer Care Manager. This is a critical role in our business, managing the day-to-day operations of our Customer Care team, ensuring the highest quality of patient service and care to internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the Hospital manager, you will be responsible for:
• Creating and managing a high-performing Customer Care team
• Leading customer engagement initiatives to drive improvements in service
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives
• The operational management of 10+ customer care members
• Training and development of new and existing staff
• Stakeholder management of both internal and external clients

To ensure success in this role, you will work collaboratively with your team and stakeholders across the wider business to create an environment that promotes continuous improvement in the customer experience and operational excellence.

You will not only be a manager but a leader and mentor to your team members by empowering them to be the best that they can be. You will also manage all recruitment, training and performance management activities for your teams.

You will have 3+ years in a similar management position with the passion and drive to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Ideally in your career you would have managed a 24×7 team including managing rosters, employee performance, training and have the necessary skills to have those hard conversations.

We offer a wide range of specialist services and provide 24-hour emergency and critical care through our facilities in NSW, ACT, QLD, VIC and SA. The Animal Referral Hospital at Homebush is supported by a range of specialist services including internal medicine; surgery; oncology; ophthalmology; behavioural medicine; diagnostic imaging; and emergency and critical care. Our team is supported by the latest equipment including in house diagnostic laboratory, Smart Flow patient management system, digital radiography, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, ECG, onsite CT, onsite high field MRI and stereotactic radiation.

The role

You will work predominantly under the guidance and mentorship of our internal medicine specialists, as well as more broadly within our team of professional veterinarians and expert nursing staff. You will also have close involvement with our other departments and for those with interest in other disciplines there is opportunity to increase exposure to these during the internship.

Interns are expected to participate in daily rounds, as well as regular journal club meetings and case presentations. They will be encouraged to complete a published work during their internship and will be supported in the completion of ANZCVS medicine membership examination.

Previous ARH interns have continued on to residency positions worldwide.


Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration at least in NSW, possess excellent communication skills, a strong knowledge base on which to build, works well in a large team and is motivated to achieve best patient care. At least 1-2 years’ of clinical experience is preferred, but outstanding new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

In addition to working with and learning from a highly experienced Medicine team, the successful candidate will receive:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Nurse looking to expand their knowledge; supporting specialists in the field as they treat a wide range of cases such as gastrointestinal disease (including liver, pancreas and bowel disease); cardiac and respiratory disease; endocrine problems (such as diabetes and thyroid disease); kidney and liver; immune system; and joint disease.

We are now recruiting for a Receptionist to join the team on a permanent part-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who prides them self  on being the professional face of a business, whilst delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders in a high-pressure environment.


Specific tasks include but are not limited to:

  • First point of contact for clients both over the phone and in person
  • Answering and directing calls on a busy switch line
  • Communicating effectively with clients and emergency staff in the hospital
  • Point of sale operations with cash, EFT and VetPay
  • General administrative duties to support the day Customer care team


The ideal candidate will be a reliable, resilient and dedicated team member. They will have a Cert II in Animal Studies (as a minimum) and at least 3 years experience in a Reception/ Administration/ Customer Care role. They will be comfortable working in a busy environment, managing a switchboard and face-to-face customer liaison. Previous experience in a Veterinary environment will be highly regarded.
