Our flagship hospital in Homebush (Sydney) is now on the lookout for Emergency Veterinarians to join the team. You will ideally be a team player, with a can-do attitude, who thrives in a multi-discipline hospital. You will also be willing to work overnights and every second weekend on a rotating roster.

The Animal Referral Hospital is a 24-hour per day, 7 days per week, dedicated emergency and critical care (ECC) service. The service is staffed by specialists in ECC, emergency veterinarians, experienced emergency nurses, animal attendants and reception staff 24 hours. The service provides continuous care for our critical patients, as well as streamlined emergency admissions 24/7.

ARH is currently recruiting for experienced Emergency and Critical Care Nurses to join the team. There are various shifts available so we are open to considering both permanent and casual arrangements. To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

Essential Attributes

  • Minimum 4 years’ nursing experience in a busy general practice
  • Certificate IV in veterinary nursing or equivalent
  • Availability to work overnights, weekends and/or public holidays
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work efficiently and multi-task
  • Friendly, easy going nature with a strong work ethic
  • Demonstrate consistently high quality of patient care even in busy conditions
  • Willingness to assist with short-notice shift cover, from time to time, if required
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Attributes

  • Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (Emergency and Critical Care)
  • Experience in monitoring critical and ventilated patients
  • Sound knowledge and experience in anaesthetic monitoring and management
  • Previous experience in an emergency or specialist hospital
  • Knowledge of RX works, Smartflow and Idexx blood machines

The opportunity has opened up for 2 x Nurses to join our Medicine team on a full-time basis in our hospital at Homebush. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Nurses looking to expand their knowledge; supporting specialists in the field as they treat a wide range of cases such as gastrointestinal disease (including liver, pancreas and bowel disease); cardiac and respiratory disease; endocrine problems (such as diabetes and thyroid disease); kidney and liver; immune system; and joint disease.

You will have great communication, organisation and time management skills and have a passion for outcomes, patient care and excellent clinical service. You will enjoy working as a team but also flourish individually. About us

The Ophthalmology department at the Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) is pleased to offer an internship in Ophthalmology at our busy referral practice located at Homebush in Sydney. The ophthalmology department is supported by a range of specialist services including internal medicine; surgery; oncology; diagnostic imaging; behavioural medicine; exotics and avian; and emergency and critical care. Our team is supported by the latest equipment and offers the highest standard of care in ophthalmic case management and surgery.

We are able to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to take on an ophthalmology internship position commencing in February 2020.

The role

You will work predominantly under the guidance and mentorship of our ophthalmologist, as well as more broadly within our team of professional veterinarians and expert nursing staff. Interns are expected to participate in journal club, case presentations and present an annual seminar. Interns will develop experience in ophthalmic examinations and case management as well as theoretical and practical ophthalmic surgical skills over the course of the internship. Completion of an ophthalmic research project and submission of a peer-reviewed manuscript for publication is required.

It provides the perfect opportunity for individuals wishing to pursue future specialist training in veterinary ophthalmology. Requirements

Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in NSW, have at least 1-2 years of clinical experience, excellent communication skills and a strong knowledge base on which to build.
