The Animal Referral Hospital (ARH) Essendon has a 24 hour per day, 7 days a week, dedicated emergency and critical care (ECC) service. The hospital is staffed with an outstanding team of emergency veterinarians and nurses working alongside specialists in ECC / internal medicine and surgery. We aim to provide a responsive, comprehensive emergency and referral service to Victorian veterinarians, their clients and their patients. We provide high professional and clinical standards, which are tempered with genuine care and compassion.

We are currently seeking an experienced emergency vet or experienced GP for 3-4 months from March through to June 2019. We have 2 of our team on Fellowship study leave as well as 3 preparing for memberships. The positioned involves every second weekend set shifts, 2 x 10 or 12.5 hour shifts, as well as any additional shifts during the week if required and/or desired.

A strong interest in the fundamentals of ECC is required for this role. As there is always another vet on, this role may suit a GP with a minimum of 2 years’ experience wanting to learn more about ECC in a supportive specialist hospital environment.

Does your heart race and your eyes light up when an emergency comes in the door? The Animal Referral Hospital Essendon Fields is pleased to offer a 12- month internship in ECC commencing March 2019. The position would suit an enthusiastic young veterinarian keen to develop their skills and knowledge in the field of ECC in a challenging but supported environment.

Under the mentorship of our experienced team including a specialist and senior registrar in ECC, the ECC internship program includes rotation through daytime, night-time, evening and weekend shifts, with 4 weeks annual leave, 1 week paid study leave, and a salary commensurate with the award. Regular tutorials, case discussion, journal club options, and interaction with specialists in all departments at our hospital will enhance the learning experience during your time with us.

Required attributes for this position

  • A veterinary degree and Victorian Registration
  • A minimum of 12 months clinical experience
  • A willingness to work hard in a busy and demanding environment
  • Effective communication skills

There is also the opportunity to salary package the tuition fees to undertake the graduate certificate in emergency and critical care at the University of Melbourne.

Are you interested in becoming an ECC veterinarian? Not quite sure the best place to start? The Animal Referral Hospital is pleased to offer a newly created position for a Junior ECC Vet to join our team at Essendon Fields. We seek an energetic, motivated veterinarian with a minimum of 12 months clinical experience, who is interested in learning more about emergency and critical care, in a challenging but supported environment.
